Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team was unable to avoid the sweep against Minnesota Crookston losing, 10-4. An early lead by the Golden Eagle kept the win out of reach for the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first inning, Minnesota Crookston recorded four runs in the second and third innings
• Northern State Chipped away from the deficit as Jackson Meyer grounded out to the pitcher while Jordan DeMarce scored in the bottom of the third inning
• The Golden Eagles extended their lead with three runs in the fourth and sixth inning
• In the top of the eighth inning, UMC tallied two runs off of a triple to lead by eight runs
• Brennan Phillips drove the ball to right field for a single that scored Michael Benevides and Meyer to trail by six in the bottom of the eighth
• Nick Friedges kept the Wolves rolling in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Karson Hesser
• Minnesota Crookston added to their lead with one run in the top of the ninth
• The Wolves tallied four runs off of 11 hits with one error and three stolen bags
• Jack Miller recorded the loss in 2.0 innings pitched with one strikeout
