Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team split with St. Cloud State on Saturday in a pair of offensively powered games. The Wolves tallied 22 hits on the day and scored 11 runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1
- Northern tallied their eight runs on 13 hits in the game one victory, scoring four in the first, one in the second, and three in the third
- St. Cloud scored three runs in the first inning, leaving NSU with an uphill battle
- The Wolves got to work early with four runs on a double by Kyra Knudtson (scoring Ashley Fauske), triple by Avarie Eagle (scoring Knudtson), and homerun by Liv Richardson (scoring Eagle)
- The Huskies tied the contest in the top of the second, however that did not last long
- Alexandria Arndt belted a long ball to left, giving Northern a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the second
- Eagle extended that lead in the third on a 2-run homer to left center, scoring Knudtson
- Lexi Chase also scored Richardson on a single up the middle and Northern State led 8-4 through three complete
- The Huskies added one in the top of the seventh
- Eagle and Richardson led the offense with three hits apiece, including a pair of homeruns
- Chase threw her eighth win of the season in seven innings of work with nine hits, five earned runs, and four strikeouts

- Liv Richardson: 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI, 1 homerun

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2
- St. Cloud State scored early in game two with five runs in the top of the first and one in the second
- The Huskies added another four in the fourth and fifth innings
- Northern State rallied back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth off the bats of Elly Smith (scoring Brooke Wolf), Emma Owens (scoring Madi Jones), and Lexi Chase (scoring Liv Richardson)
- SCSU took an 8-run lead in the sixth with one run and the Wolves were unable to add to their team total in the bottom of the frame, leading to the run-rule loss
- Chase suffered the game two loss, giving up all five runs in the first inning
- Knudtson, Avarie Eagle, and Smith each tallied two hits in the contest

The Wolves return to Koehler Hall of Fame Field tomorrow against Minnesota Duluth. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. against the Bulldogs. Northern will honor their 2024 senior class between contests.
