Northern State Splits the Day Against Truman State

Kirksville, M.O. – Northern State University took game one against Truman State, 3-2 to start the day but fell short in game two, losing 4-1. The Wolves recorded four runs off of nine hits on the day with Jonah Schmidt recording his first home run of his career in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
  • Truman State was the first to score with a two run homerun in the bottom of the second inning to put them ahead
  • Karson Hesser responded back in the fourth inning with a double to right field to score Nick Friedges and Michael Benevides to tie the game
  • On a groundout to third base by Drew Benson, Hesser scored on the fielder's choice to put Northern State ahead at the end fourth
  • NSU recorded three runs off of six hits
  • Cooper Tessendorf recorded his first win of the season in 4.1 innings pitched with two strikeouts against 19 batters faced
  • In 1.0 innings pitched, Drew Burkholder notched his first save of the season with one strikeout
