Northern State Matches Up with Winona State in NSIC First Round

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University men's basketball opens the NSIC Tournament tomorrow, facing off against sixth seeded Winona State. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. against the Warriors

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the post season with a 10-18 record overall, finishing the year 11th in the NSIC with an 8-14 mark
  • Northern is shooting 44.4% from the floor, 33.2% from the 3-point line, and 78.3% from the foul line this season
  • They are averaging 75.4 points, 32.9 rebounds, 12.4 assists, 9.0 turnovers, 4.5 steals, and 2.9 blocks per game
  • Jacksen Moni leads the team and is second in the NSIC averaging 21.5 points per game, as well as 8.1 rebounds per game
  • Josh Dilling follows, adding 18.3 points per game with a team leading 51.3 field goal percentage
  • Dilling has also dished out a team best 122 assists and is second on the team with 66 made 3-pointers
  • Augustin Reede is the final Wolf averaging double figures, notching 10.3 points per game, and leads Northern State with 67 made threes
  • Moni and Reede became members of the Northern State 1000 point club this season
  • Michael Nhial and Andrew Bergan round out the starting five, adding 8.5 and 6.4 points per game respectively
  • Isaiah Hagen leads Northern State off the bench averaging 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game
 
WINONA STATE STORYLINES
  • Winona State enters the post season with a 14-8 record overall, earning the six seed in the post season with a 19-9 NSIC record
  • The Warriors are averaging 72.0 points, 35.1 rebounds, 11.9 assists, 9.2 turnovers, 4.9 steals, and 2.6 blocks; out-scoring and out-rebounding their opponents by 2.8 points and 2.7 boards per contest
  • They are shooting 46.0% from the floor, 35.6% from the 3-point line, and 69.7% from the foul line this season
  • Connor Dillon leads the offense averaging 21.4 points per game, with a team leading 78 made 3-pointers
  • Connor Drew and Brock Voigt round out the double figure scorers, adding 10.5 points per game apiece
  • Voigt leads WSU shooting 60.7% from the floor
  • Devon Fielding stepped into a starting role the last 19 games of the season and is averaging 5.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game
  • Dillon Declan has dished out a team leading 103 assists in 2023-24 and is adding 6.7 points per game as the final member of the starting five
  • The Warriors are lead by head coach Todd Eisner in his ninth season at the helm
