Wolves Soccer Opens 2023 with Non-Conference Matches in Missouri

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University soccer team heads to St. Joe to face off against Rockhurst University of the GLVC and Missouri Western of the MIAA. Kick off times are set for 5 p.m. on Friday, September 1 against the Hawks and 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 3 against the host Griffons.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State earned the number seven spot in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with Hannah Smith and Alexus Townsend selected as the team's preseason players to watch
  • NSU closed out the 2022 season with a record of 9-5-5 overall and 7-3-5 in the NSIC
  • NSU fell in the first round of the NSIC conference tournament last season to No. 4 Minot State after earning the fifth seed
  • Hannah Smith led the Wolves in 2022, she ranked sixth in goals, 20th in shots on goals, and ninth in points in the league standings

  • Rockhurst University was selected third in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • The Hawks closed out the 2022 season notching an 11-3-3 record overall and 10-1-1 mark in the GLVC
  • The Hawks won their second GLVC Championship in program history
  • Anna Lantz led the Hawks finishing second in the GLVC in shots, shots on goals, goals, game winning goals, and points
  • RU is led by head coach Greg Herdlick in his 25th season at the helm
