Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University cross country teams are ready to kick-off their year under the lights, running at Friday's Augie Twilight. Race times are set for 8:40 p.m. in the women's 5k and 9:10 p.m. in the men's 4-mile. Competition takes place from the Yankton Trail Park.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• The Wolves head into the fall of 2023 picked eighth (men) and seventh (women) in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Polls
• Josh Martin and Megan Pickering were selected as the team's runners to watch this season
• Martin tallied a ninth place NSIC finish and All-Conference performance as a true freshman, while Pickering landed in the top-50 at the NSIC meet in her junior season

• Northern has traditionally opened the season at the Augie Twilight and recorded 12^th (women) and 13^th (men) place finishes in 2022
• Josh Martin led the way for the returners with a time of 20:46.93
• Megan Pickering led the way for the women with a time of 19:03.47, followed by Mary Franssen with a mark of 19:16.58
