Northern State Swept by No. 6 Central Oklahoma

Tahlequah, Okla. – The Northern State University softball team faced off against top-10 Central Oklahoma on Saturday in a neutral site doubleheader. The Wolves fell to the sixth-ranked Bronchos in both contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
  • Northern scored their two runs on four hits with runs in both the second and third innings
  • Central Oklahoma scored two runs in the first, two in the second, four in the fifth , and two in the seventh, notching 11 total hits
  • Liv Richardson scored the first run of the contest for the Wolves on a solo shot to right field in the second
  • Ashley Fauske kicked off the rally in the third, connecting for a 2-out single through the left side
  • Fauske came around to score the following at-bat on a single to center by Claire Zyblut
  • Lexi Chase started for the Wolves and recorded her fourth loss of the season, giving up eight earned runs and 11 hits
  • Abby Rux and Abby Meads entered in relief, holding the Bronchos to two unearned runs

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
  • The Central Oklahoma offense exploded early in game two with four runs in the first, five in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth
  • Liv Richardson plated Ashley Fauske on a single to left in the top of the fourth, for the Wolves lone run of the contest
  • Richardson, Fauske, and Kyra Knudtson recorded the three team hits for Northern State
  • Abby Rux, Meghan Anderson, and Abby Meads all stepped in the circle for the Wolves, giving up 11 earned runs (13 total) on 14 hits with four walks and two strikeouts
  • Rux got the start and suffered her fifth loss of the season
