FAN PRIMER | No. 21 Wolves Welcome Opponents for Dacotah Bank Classic

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 21 Northern State University men’s basketball team returns home this weekend for a pair of non-conference contests. The Wolves are set to host Peru State, Trinity Bible, and UMary for the annual Dacotah Bank Classic. Tip-off times are set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday against Peru State and 5 p.m. on Saturday versus Trinity Bible.

#21 NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • The Wolves return to Wachs Arena with a 1-4 record overall, notching an NSIC opening win over the University of Mary
  • Northern is averaging 68.0 points, 30.6 rebounds, 11.4 assists, 10.0 turnovers, 4.2 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game this season
  • They are shooting 42.4% from the floor, 28.6% from the 3-point line, and 72.7% from the foul line through five games
  • Jacksen Moni leads the team averaging 19.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, shooting 41.0% from the floor
  • Josh Dilling is also in double figures, averaging 17.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, shooting a team leading 50.8% from the floor
  • Dilling has dished out a team leading 22 assists, followed by Moni with 15
  • Michael Nhial and Augustin Reede are averaging just over eight points a game each and round out the main contingent of Wolves starters
  • The key for NSU moving into the weekend and the heart of the season is to build production off the bench and continue to improve their 3-point shooting

 

PERU STATE COLLEGE STORYLINES

  • Peru State heads to Aberdeen with a 6-1 record this season and 2-1 mark in their league
  • The Bobcats are averaging 77.6 points, 38.4 rebounds, 13.1 assists, 13.1 turnovers, 6.3 steals, and 3.3 blocks per game this season
  • They are shooting 45.8% from the floor, 36.8% from the 3-point line, and 78.0% from the foul line
  • David Wingett Jr. leads the offense averaging 19.4 points per game, as well as a team leading 8.6 rebounds per game
  • Ajantae Hogan and Sayvon Traylor follow notching 14.3 and 13.8 points per game respectively
  • Hogan leads the offense shooting 54.2% from the floor, while Wingett Jr. is shooting a team best 43.6% from the 3-point line 
  • The Bobcats are led by head coach Roman Gentry in his second season at the helm

TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE STORYLINES

  • They are averaging 79.8 points, 37.3 rebounds, 11.7 assists, 13.8 turnovers, 8.0 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game
  • Marcellus Mencarini leads three averaging double figures, notching 25.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game
  • Quincy Wilson and Micah Christensen follow averaging 16.2 and 10.8 points per game respectively with Christensen leading the team off the bench
  • Damien Walters Jr. is shooting a team leading 63.0% from the floor and 67.0% from the 3-point line with ten made from beyond the arc
  • TBC is led by head coach Jordan Nowell in his 17th season at the helm

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

While the Barnett Center has numerous entrances to the facility, fans should enter through the main north doors on game day as the primary ticket gate. Due to staff restraints for the coming weekend, the south gate will not be open. The ticket gate will open one hour prior to tio-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Individuals included in the Northern State passbook must sign in at the north entrance ONLY via the far right line.  There is no re-entry into the facility.

Parking

Fans with Wolves Club parking passes are able to park in the first three blocked off rows of the Barnett Center Lot. Parking passes must be displayed for the gate attendants. The remainder of the lots is free to park for all fans. 

Concessions, NSU Team Store, Apex Events Alcohol Sales, and Programs

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. New in 2023 Northern State students can use their Thunder Bucks at all Sodexo concessions stands. 

The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its Barnett Center location one hours before tip-off for all Northern State home basketball games. 

Program sales will take place in the main Barnett Center hallway and in the arena. All game day program sales are cash only. Game day programs feature Northern State basketball history, game day information, opponent information, and a variety of promotions and coupons for Northern State fans. Programs for the SCB Champions Classic are produced and sold through Small College Basketball. 

Alcohol sales through APEX Events LLC will be available in the southeast corner of the Barnett Center for all fans. 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at wither entrance to the Barnett Center on game day.
