Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 20 Northern State University wrestling team struggled to get things going versus No. 5 St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon. Kelby Hawkins grabbed the lone win for the Wolves from Wachs Arena, despite Northern battling to three decision losses by three points or less.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• St. Cloud State went on a 21-0 run to open the dual notching four decision wins, one major decision, and one technical fall
• Teagan Block and Kolton Roth each had a chance to take down the No. 11 wrestler in their respective weights, however fell in a pair of hard fought decisions
• Kelby Hawkins battled against Bryce Dagel in the 174-pound bout, notching an 8-6 sudden victory win
• Hawkins trailed 4-2 following the first period and chipped away in the second; down 6-4 heading into the third
• The Groton native started the third on top and battled to earn both a penalty point and riding time point to force the first overtime
• It came down to the final seconds in the following match, as Sam Kruger ultimately fell to Bryce Fitzpatrick in the 4-3 decision
• The Huskies closed out the dual with a pair of decision wins at 197 and 285 pounds
