Pre-NSU: Sam Kruger is a 184-pound wrestler out of Winner High School and South Dakota State University. He was a 6-time letter-winner and team captain for the Warriors as a prep. Kruger was a 5-time state finalist and 3-time South Dakota State Champion. He was the Class B Wrestler of the Year in 2020-21 after going 38-0. Kruger concluded his high school career with a 86-match win streak. He spent one season as a redshirt at SDSU posting a 16-8 record. Kruger tied for third at the Bison Open, placed fifth at the Daktronics Open, third at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open, fourth at the Doane Open, and third at the Don Parker Open.
