Wolves Look to Repeat Title at Dragon Invite

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State swim team will open the second half of the 2022-23 schedule at this weekend's Dragon Invite hosted by MSU Moorhead. The Wolves look to win their second consecutive Dragon Invite title, having won by 85 points over runner-up UMary a season ago.

  • Day one of the Dragon Invite will take place at Nemzek Pool in Moorhead, Minnesota
  • Day two of the Dragon Invite will take place at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in Fargo, North Dakota
NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State will be competing in their second invitational of the season, having finished sixth place at the Augustana Invitational in November to finish the first half of the 2022-23 schedule
  • The Wolves totaled 176 points at the Augustana Invitational, placing ahead of three NSIC opponents (UMary, Concordia-St. Paul, and Southwest Minnesota State)
  • Lilly Grebner captured event wins and NCAA B-Cut times in the 200-yard IM (2:03.84) and the 400-yard IM (4:29.70), she earned her third event win of the invite in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.65)
  • Lauren Forsyth swam to a pair of top-15 finishes in the invite, earning a third place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.70) and finished 13th in the 100-yard butterfly (57.38)
  • Grebner holds the top time in the NSIC in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.65), 100-yard IM (57.43), 200-yard IM (2:03.84), and 400-yard IM (4:29.70)
  • Grebner also ranks first in NCAA Division II in the 100-yard IM (57.43), 12th in the 200-yard IM (2:03.84), and 13th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.65)
  • Forsyth ranks second in the NSIC in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.70), sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (57.38), and seventh in the 50-yard butterfly (26.67)
  • Delaney Ryken ranks 13th in the NSIC in the 50-yard freestyle (24.04), while Mayson Sheldon ranks 15th in the NSIC in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.64)
  • Through eight meets this season Northern has claimed 30 individual wins, 71 individual top-3 finishes, and seven relay wins
  • Grebner has a team-best 16 individual wins and 17 top-3 finishes this season; other NSU swimmers to win individual events this season include Haley Osborne (4), Maddie Gonzales (3), Mayson Sheldon (2), Lauren Forsyth (2) Delaney Ryken (1), Hannah Rodts (1), and Brianna Back (1)
