Crookston, Minn. – It took a little over 23 minutes, but it was all Northern State on Sunday afternoon after 
Hannah Smith scored her first of two goals to open the game and the Wolves cruised to a 4-0 victory over Minnesota Crookston.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Northern State struck first in the 24th minute as Calista Kocmick found a wide open Hannah Smith on the left side of the field, Smith drew the goalkeeper out of the net and scored her first goal of the season
 
	- The Wolves found the back of the net minutes later in the 27th minute off a corner kick, Mia Zagorski found Kelsey Selden cutting towards the goal and was able to head the ball past the UMC goalkeeper into the left corner of the net
 
	- Smith found the back of the net for the second time in the first half in the 31st minute, DeAnna LeMire found Smith cutting towards the net and was able to get a pass through a UMC defender and goalkeeper for Smith to score the third goal of the half for Northern
 
	- Northern State's three first half goals are the most they have scored in a single half since they scored three goals in the first and second half of a 6-1 win over Minnesota Crookston on November 1, 2019
 
	- Megan Fastenau scored the lone goal of the second half in the 61st minute, finding the right side of the net off a free kick
 
	- Northern held the advantage in shots (22-2), shots-on-goal (9-1), and corner kicks (6-0)
 
	- NSU's 22 shots are the most in a game since the November 1, 2019, win over Minnesota Crookston when the Wolves recorded 33 shots
 
	- Alexus Townsend and Elinor Sayers combined for the shutout victory, each playing 45 minutes in the game; Townsend corralled Northern's only save of the game in the first half

For the first time since a scrimmage in early August, the Northern State Wolves will return to Aberdeen a play a pair of home games at the Athletic & Recreation Fields next weekend. On Friday night the Wolves welcome the Wildcats of Wayne State for a 6 p.m. kick-off, and on Sunday afternoon the Vikings of Augustana will come to town for a 1 p.m. match.
