Billings, MT – The Northern State women's soccer team will travel back to Aberdeen with two victories at the Rimrock Classic this weekend, after defeating Black Hills State 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Wolves their second consecutive shutout win to start the season, as the NSU defense limited the Yellow Jackets to only four shots in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Northern State put together two scoring opportunities off corner kicks in the first 20 minutes of play; the first came in the 16^th minute Jessi Ryman and Paige Hutton had back-to-back shots deflected in the box and a few minutes later in the 18^th minute NSU placed another corner kick into the box however it was immediately corralled by BHSU goalkeeper Makayla Dannelly
• Just moments after Northern had a free kicked knocked away directly in front of the net, the Wolves capitalized on their sixth corner kick of the day as Megan Fastenau scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Zoe Boughton in the 49^th minute
• Northern State had another opportunity to add to their lead in the 59^th minute, but Ryman's shot off the corner kick went just high and contacted the bottom of the goal post above the net
• Black Hills State made one last offensive push in the 87^th minute as Darby Whiteley placed a shot towards the low right corner of the net, but Alexus Townsend was able to deflect the ball out-of-bounds
• The Wolves controlled the offensive attack throughout the game holding the advantage in shots (12-4), shots-on-goal (4-3), and corner kicks (10-1)
