ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State's
Tanner Berg (men's track and field) and
Rachel Guthmiller (women's track and field) have been named as the South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week.
Berg won the hammer throw with a national leading mark of 69.55m at the Jo Meaker Classic. He broke his own Northern State school record in the event. The graduate student added a fourth place finish in the shot put (16.26m) and seventh place finish in the discus (48.18m). He holds to top throw in the nation in the hammer by over seven meters.
Guthmiller won the javelin at the Jo Meaker Classic with a national provisional mark of 43.19m. She added an 11th place finish in the discus, throwing 36.15m. Guthmiller ranks in the top-20 nationally in the javelin and leads the NSIC.
