Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University Associate Athletic Director for External Operations,
Austin Hieb announced today his resignation to become the next Athletic Director at the University of Jamestown.
"We would like to thank Austin for the incredible work he has done here at Northern State University," noted Interim Athletic Director
Terri Holmes. "Austin has been an integral part of our administrative team over the last five years and we will greatly miss him as a member of our team. With that being said, we are excited for Austin to take this next step in his career and we know that he will continue to do great work for the Jimmies."
"NSU is a special place that I will always have an affinity for," explained Hieb. "The relationships I have built with the athletic administrators, coaches, and community are ones that I will cherish forever. I cannot thank Josh Moon enough for taking a chance on me five years ago. Without him, I would not be where I am today. Thanks for the memories Wolves Nation."
Currently in his fifth year at Northern State, Hieb joined the department in the summer of 2017. In his Northern State tenure, Hieb managed the Wolves Club, championship funds, season tickets, special events, sponsors, and game administration; and was the sport administrator for the wrestling and baseball programs.
In the summer of 2018, Hieb was instrumental in rebranding the NSU Golf Classic and the move to Lee Park Golf Course. The 5-person, 36-team scramble style tournament is one of the premiere Wolves Club events throughout the year. Hieb is an integral member of the Northern State staff in the opening of Dacotah Bank Stadium this past fall. In addition, he is the main liaison for the VIP Suite Section located on the upper level of Wachs Arena.
Hieb is a 2014 graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications. He was a 4-year starter and 2-year team captain for the Tigers golf team, earning GPAC All-Conference and Player of the Week honors. He graduated from the University of South Dakota, School of Law in May of 2017.
A national search will begin immediately to find Hieb's replacement.
