Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Polls earlier this morning. The Northern State men were picked sixth with 71 points, while the women were picked sixth with 119 points.
 
The 2021-22 outdoor track and field teams are coming off fifth place finishes at the NSIC Championships a season ago. NSU tallied six all-conference performances, including a runner-up finish in the 4x400m relay on the men's side and six all-conference performance, including two conference champions on the women's side. In addition, three Wolves qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Tanner Berg brought home the fifth All-American honors of his career, taking seventh in the hammer throw.
 
Jackson Harrison and Tanner Berg were tabbed as the team's athletes to watch for the 2022 season for the men's team, while Shanice Burrell and Shona Juliana were tabbed as the team's athletes to watch for the women. Lynne Dingman begins her third season at the helm of the program and returns 53 from a season ago, while welcoming 32 newcomers.
 
Northern opens the outdoor season at the University of South Dakota on April 2. The Wolves will host the Dewy Donat Classic, April 22-23, as well as the NSIC Championships, May 12-14, from the Swisher Activities Complex.
