Grand Junction, Colo. – The Northern State University softball team closed out their road trip Wednesday evening falling to Colorado Mesa University. The Wolves had their chances in both contests, leaving 12 total runners on base in 14 innings of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- Northern tallied four runs on six hits in the game one loss, falling in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off, 1-out triple
- The Wolves had their opportunities leaving six runners on base in the game, while also giving up two errors defensively
- Claire Zbylut put NSU on the board in the top of the first with a single up the middle, scoring Hannah Smith
- Colorado Mesa responded in the bottom of the frame, taking a 4-1 lead with three homeruns
- Northern chipped away in the third as Ashley Fauske and Kamdyn Barrientos scored on an error by the right fielder and double to left by Liv Richardson
- Alexandria Arndt tied the game in the top of the sixth, hitting her third homerun of 2022, a solo shot to right center

- Meghan Anderson entered in relief in the bottom of the first, throwing 6.0 complete innings
- Anderson suffered the untimely loss, giving up just one earned run in the seventh, while striking out six

- The Mavericks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings of play with two runs in the first and one in the second
- Alexandria Arndt scored the Wolves lone run of the contest in the fifth on a wild pitch and muffed throw by the catcher
- Mesa added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth on a pair of homeruns
- The Wolves recorded one run and five hits in the contest, leaving six total runners on base
- Anderson started for the Wolves in game two, giving up four earned runs and ten hits with seven strikeouts
