Wolves Route Bronchos for Win Number One

Edmond, Okla. – In the first ever meeting between Northern State and Central Oklahoma, it was the Wolves who came away with a convincing 10-1 victory over the host school in the Edmond First Pitch Classic. After having the bats come to life halfway through last night's loss, the momentum carried over to tonight as the Wolves scored ten runs on 11 hits, three doubles and a homerun.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when Jack Paulson hit a single into right field to score Austin Portner and Alex Gauer
  • Central Oklahoma scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when Landon Wood singled to the shortstop and scored Zac Freeman from third base
  • The Wolves tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning when Brandon Kusler hit a homerun into right field, which also scored Portner who was walked the prior at bat
  • Northern put the game out of reach in the seventh inning, stringing together seven hits and six runs in inning
  • Paulson started the scoring in the inning with a double to left center that scored Zachary Lanier, and Paulson would score on the very next at bat when Spencer Sarringar doubled to right center
  • Ramon Vega Jr. would get Sarringar across the plate with a single into left field, pushing the lead to 7-1
  • Niko Pezonella would drive in Vega Jr. and Reece Ragatz with a double to right center, and Pezonella scored the tenth run of the game for the Wolves when Portner singled to left field
  • Max Otto got the start and the win for NSU, he pitched five complete innings allowing five hits and striking out five batters; Christian Mundt and Michael Chevalier each pitched two innings in relief for the Wolves with Mundt striking out two and Chevalier four
