Northern Track Closes Out Weekend at NDSU Bison Open

Fargo, N.D. – One meet record fell for the Northern State University women's track and field team from the NDSU Bison Open. Both the men and women recorded a combined two event wins and 22 top-10 finishes from the meet.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jackson Willis closed out the heptathlon in 11th with 4,383 total points, notching marks of 9.64 in the 60m hurdles, 3.60m in the pole vault, and 2:54.30 in the 1000m
  • Maxwell Geditz and Sean Juengst followed in 12th and 14th with point totals of 4,236 and 3,823 respectively; Geditz recorded marks of 10.27 in the 60m hurdles, 3.60m in the pole vault, and 2:54.14 in the 1000m, while Juengst notched marks of 10.97 in the 60m hurdles, 3.40m in the pole vault, and 2:56.43 in the 1000m
  • Rhaecine Sam recorded an eight place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:09.29
  • Nathan Alto tallied a seventh place finish in the mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:24.80
  • Joel Matehs added a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.70 as the top Division II placer
  • Chase Domier and Seth Martens finished in tenth and 11th in the 400m with times of 51.31 and 51.66 respectively
  • Domier added a sixth place finish in the 200m, crossing the line in 22.64, followed by Matehs in 11th with a time of 22.95
  • Jackson Harrison ran to a sixth place finish in the 3000m with a time of 8:33.23
  • Glen Quayle notched his second pole vault victory of the season, winning the event with a 4.80m vault
  • Samuel Tremelling followed in fifth place, vaulting 4.50m
  • Sean Mhende jumped into the top-10 of the triple jump with a 12.87m mark in ninth
  • Tanner Berg and Ethan Barnett recorded sixth and 14th place finishes in the shot put, tossing 16.47m and 13.78m respectively
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Victoria Kolbinger and Kenzie Hamann both blew past the Bison Open 5000m meet record finishing in first and second; Kolbinger notched a time of 18:54.01, while Hamann finished in 18:59.60
  • Shanice Burrell was the top Division II finisher in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a provisional time of 8.83 as the runner-up
  • Isabel Kinzer and Emma Rezac took 11th and 12th in the 400m, notching times of 1:01.02 and 1:01.21 respectively
  • Mary Franssen and Summer Carlson rounded out the top-10 of the 800m run with times of 2:21.50 and 2:22.42
  • Burrell and Kinzer added to their days with third and fifth place finishes in the 200m with times of 26.47 and 26.74
  • Megan Mooberry added to the Saturday distance success, taking fourth in the 3000m run with a time of 10:28.76
  • Tava Berg finished as the runner-up in the high jump, clearing a provisional mark of 1.69m, with Jordan Tschumperlin in fifth, jumping 1.64m
  • Kenzee Danielson tallied a top-10 finish in the pole vault, jumping 3.51m in fourth overall
  • Shona Juliana recorded a seventh place finish in the long jump with a 5.52m mark
  • Sierra Sweeney continued her weekend following Friday's multi with a 12th place finish in the triple jump, notching a 10.56m mark
 
UP NEXT
Northern State travels to Brookings next Friday and Saturday for the South Dakota State Indoor Classic. Competition kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
