No. 21 Wolves Travel to No. 15 Peacocks and No. 17 Mavericks

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 21 Northern State University wrestling team travels for a pair of ranked duals this weekend at No. 15 Upper Iowa and No. 17 Minnesota State. The duals are slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday against the Peacocks and 5 p.m. on Saturday against the Mavericks.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the two dual weekend with a 7-2 record overall and 3-2 mark in the NSIC
  • Northern is ranked No. 21 in the most recent NWCA Poll with Wyatt Turnquist and James Burks sitting at No. 8 in their respective weights
  • NSU fell to No. 8 Wisconsin Parkside, 24-9 at home last week
  • Wyatt Turnquist and Ali'i Loyola recorded the two match victories for the Wolves versus the Rangers
  • Burks, Turnquist, and Cole Huss are all undefeated in NSIC action this season, with Turnquist notching a team leading 5-0 record
  • In addition, four Wolves have double figure wins this season including Izaak Hunsley (10-7), Marcus Placide (11-6), Brenden Salfrank (10-10), and Turnquist (12-2)
 
UPPER IOWA STORYLINES
  • Upper Iowa enters the weekend with a 3-4 record overall and 0-2 mark in the NSIC, falling to Augustana and St. Cloud State
  • The Peacocks are ranked 15th in the most recent NWCA Team Rankings with four individuals also landing in the top-10, including No. 5 Kaden Anderlik (133), No. 7 Tate Murdy (141), No. 10 Eric Faught (149), and No. 7 Chase Luensman (157)
  • Luensman and Gunner Rodgers lead the Peacocks in wins with 13 each
  • UIU is led by head coach Heath Grimm in his 22nd season at the helm
