Joplin, Mo. – The Northern State University softball team opened their 5-game road trip to Missouri with a 2-run loss to Maryville University. The Wolves tallied two runs on two hits in the contest and struggled defensively, giving up three errors.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maryville jumped out to an early lead, notching a run in both the first and second innings
• The Saints extended their lead with one run in the fourth, before the Wolves answered in the top of the fifth
• Live Richardson and Kamdyn Barrientos scored for the Wolves in the fifth on a throwing error by the second baseman and single to center by Jessi Hernandez
• Maryville added their fourth and final run of the contest in the bottom of the frame
• Meghan Anderson suffered her third loss of the season, giving up two earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts
