Joplin, Mo. – The Northern State University softball team dropped a pair of games to Missouri Southern on Monday afternoon. The Lions took the first via run-rule and the Wolves led through 4-complete in the second, however were unable to seal the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- Missouri Southern scored early and often in the opener, notching two runs in the first, one in the second and third, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth
- Northern tallied three hits offensively and left six runners on base, but was unable to push a run across
- In addition, the Wolves gave up two errors on defense
- Reagan Elrod suffered her third loss of the season for the Wolves, giving up four earned runs on eight hits
- Abigail Rux entered in relief, throwing her first innings of 2022; she suffered four unearned runs, throwing the final two innings of the contest

- Northern scored first in the top of the third with two runs on an error and stolen base
- Shelby Novotny tacked on the team's final run of the contest in the fifth with a solo homerun to left
- The Lions battled back in the bottom of the frame, scoring four runs to take the lead
- Missouri Southern then extended the lead in the sixth with one run and held the Wolves scoreless in the top of the seventh
- NSU recorded their three runs on nine hits and gave up four errors defensively
- Meghan Anderson threw her fourth loss of the season, giving up three earned runs on seven hits
- Rux entered in relief giving up one earned run on two hits with a strikeout
