Olson, Gough, and Sweeney Wins Events on Day One of Snow Tiger Invite

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams opened their weekend at the DWU Snow Tiger Invite on Friday. The Northern women sit in first place with 56 total points, notching two event victories on day one. The men sit second behind the host Dakota Wesleyan, with a win in the weight throw.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nick Olson took second in the weight throw, tossing a season best 16.94m on his second attempt of the day
  • Sean Juengst heads in to day two on the heptathlon with 2,428 points, notching marks of 7.79 in the 60m, 5.93m in the long jump, 10.58m in the shot put, and 1.90m in the high jump
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Cassidy Gough and Shawney Coenraad took first and second in the weight throw with marks of 15.63m and 14.87m, scoring 18 total team points
  • Christine Stoltenburg recorded a fourth place finish in the weight, tossing 14.55m
  • Sierra Sweeney won the triple jump with a 11.18m mark on her third attempt of the day
  • Morgan Sheldon scored 2,789 points to win the pentathlon, notching marks of 9.63 in the 60m hurdles, 1.55m in the high jump, 8.52m in the shot put, 4.54m in the long jump, and 2:50.64 in the 800m
  • Addison Cumbow recorded 2,008 points in the pentathlon with marks of 11.11  in the 60m hurdles, 1.40m in the high jump, 7.00m in the shot put, 4.53m in the long jump, and 3:19.41 in the 800m
