Fan Primer: Northern State Men Set for First Full Home Weekend of NSIC Hoops

Aberdeen, S.D. â€“ The Northern State University men’s basketball team welcome Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State to the Hub City this Friday and Saturday. Tip-off times are set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday against the Golden Eagles and 6 p.m. on Saturday versus the Beavers. Full game information and links can be found below.

Game Specific Promotions

  • Northern State Athletics will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX on Friday evening
  • Fans are encouraged to wear ugly holiday sweaters to Saturday's contest
    • Free Santa & Mrs. Claus photos will take place from 4-6 p.m. in the Barnett Center Main Hallway
  • The Northern State team store will run their holiday Candy Cane sale all weekend with discounts ranging from 10-50% off

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

Fans will be able to enter the Barnett Center through both the north and south doors. Access to the south entrance is available through both Dakota Bank Stadium entrances off South State Street and 15th Ave SE. Ticket gates will be located at both the north and south doors of the Barnett Center, and will open one hour prior to tip-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Gates will open one hour prior to tip-off each game day. 

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at both the North and South entrances of the Barnett Center. The Northern State passbook will be located at the north doors of the Barnett Center, individuals must sign in via the far right line at the ticket gate. There is no re-entry into the facility.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Parking

The first three rows of parking in the Barnett Center main lot will be reserved for Wolves Club members with an annual parking pass, with free parking for all fans available in the following rows to the North.

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day, opening one hour prior to tip-off.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern returns to Wachs Arena with a 6-3 record overall and 2-1 mark in the Northern Sun
  • The Wolves are averaging 79.6 points, 34.6 rebounds, 16.0 assists, 11.6 turnovers, 4.8 steals, and 3.0 blocks per game; out-scoring and out-rebounding their opponents by 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game
  • They are shooting 47.9% from the floor, 36.6% from beyond the arc, and 80.5% from the foul line
  • Sam Masten leads four Wolves averaging double figures, notching 18.8 points per game, as well as a team high 7.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game
  • Jordan Belka and Jacksen Moni follow averaging 14.8 and 13.1 points per game respectively
  • Augustin Reede leads the team from 3-point land with 29 made and a 51.8 field goal percentage from beyond the arc
  • All five starters for the Wolves are shooting 40.0% or better from the floor, led by Masten who is knocking shots down at a 57.7% clip

 

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES

  • The Golden Eagles return to Aberdeen with a 1-8 record overall and 0-3 mark in the Northern Sun, their lone win coming against Presentation College from Wachs Arena
  • UMC is averaging 68.4 points, 34.3 rebounds, 11.0 assists, 14.7 turnovers, 8.1 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game; they are being out-scored and out-rebounded by their opponents by 14.8 points and 0.6 boards this season
  • Crookston is shooting 44.9% from the floor, 33.8% from the 3-point line, and 62.4% from the free throw line
  • Blaize Sagna leads three in double figures, averaging 14.2 points per game, as well as a team high 5.4 rebounds
  • Xzavier Jones is second on the team notching 11.1 points, as well as a team best 3.0 assists per contest
  • Marcus Thompson leads the team shooting 54.1% from the floor
  • UMC is led by head coach Bryan Beamish in his first season at the helm

  • BSU is shooting 50.5% from the floor, 41.1% from the 3-point line, and 37.5% from the foul line through eight games
  • John Sutherland leads four averaging double figures, notching 17.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, while shooting a team leading 61.7%
  • Dalton Albrecht follows notching 14.6 points per game, while Brandon Christlieb and Mohamed Kone are adding 12.4 points apiece
  • Kone has dished out a team leading 32 assists on the year and Christlieb leads the team with 15 made 3-pointers and a 51.7% 3-point field goal percentage
