Fan Primer: Wolves Set to Face Top Ranked Wildcats and Vikings

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball team remains at home this Friday and Saturday versus No. 1 Wayne State College and Augustana University. Matches will start at 6 p.m. each night versus the Wildcats on Friday and Vikings on Saturday.

Game Specific Promotions

  • Volleyball this Friday and Saturday features a few free admission promotions
    • On Friday versus the Wildcats a valid volleyball ticket will also get the ticket holder into soccer for free and a valid soccer ticket will get the ticket holder into volleyball for free

On Saturday fans with a valid football ticket will be admitted to the volleyball contest for free

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at the main entrance to Wachs Arena inside the Barnett Center for volleyball.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

While the Barnett Center as numerous entrances to the facility, fans should enter through the main north doors on game day. The ticket gate, located in the Barnett Center lobby, will open one hour prior to first serve for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Individuals included in the Northern State passbook must sign in via the far right line at the main gate.  There is no re-entry into the facility.

 

Parking

Parking for all home Northern State volleyball contests is free for all fans in the Barnett Center main lot. Please note that the Barnett Center lot is used as a paid tailgating lot during all Northern State football home contests. On dates where football and volleyball coincide free and paid parking will be clearly marked for all fans. 

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. In addition, Sodexo supports local non-profits through a variety of opportunities. Contact NSU Dining Services at 605-626-2928 to learn more. 

The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day. The Barnett Center location opens one hour prior to first serve for all home contests. 

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern State continues homecoming action after a 3-set win over MSU Moorhead on Tuesday, moving to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the NSIC
  • The Wolves are hitting .249 as a team, averaging 12.9 kills, 12.0 assists, 14.0 digs, 1.9 aces, and 2.3 blocks per set
  • Sally Gaul leads the offense with 210 kills, averaging 3.96 per set, while Abby Brooks leads the team hitting .328 on the year
  • Brooks is also the team block leader with 57.0 total, followed by Gaul with 42.0
  • Keri Walker is averaging just under 11 assists per set with 575 total this season
  • Madison Langlie leads the Wolves defense with 231 digs, averaging 4.36 per set, and over 280 serve receptions in 2022
  • The pair of Walker and Langlie lead the team with 19 service aces apiece

 

#1 WAYNE STATE STORYLINES

  • The Wildcats travel to Aberdeen as the only unbeaten squad in the NSIC with a 19-0 overall record
  • Wayne State is hitting .296 this season, averaging 13.4 kills, 12.6 assists, 16.3 digs, 1.6 aces, and 2.4 blocks per set
  • Taya Beller and Kelsie Cada lead the offense with 253 and 224 kills respectively this season, with Beller hitting a team high .446
  • Rachel Walker is averaging just under 11 assists per set with 692 total
  • Jessie Brandl leads the defense with 265 total digs, averaging 4.21 per set, followed by Cada with 215
  • Maggie Brahmer leads the net defense with 80.0 total blocks this season
  • Wayne is led by head coach Scott Kneifl in his 18th season at the helm 

 

LAST MATCH-UP

  • The Wolves dropped two matches to Wayne State last season with scores of 3-0 and 3-1
  • Northern is 14-31 all-time against the Wildcats

 

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY STORYLINES

  • Augustana enters the weekend with a 12-5 record overall and 4-5 mark in the Northern Sun
  • The Vikings are averaging 13.2 kills, 11.7 assists, 15.6 digs, 2.0 aces, and 1.9 blocks per set with a .195 attack percentage
  • Kate Reimann and Maddy Guetter lead the team with 203 and 194 kills respectively this season
  • Avery Thorson has 609 total assists on the year, averaging 9.98 per set
  • Erica Bute leads the defense with 319 digs, averaging 5.06 per set, while Piper Asche leads the team at the net with 60.0 blocks
  • Augustana is led by head coach Jennifer Jacobs in her sixth season
