Aberdeen, S.D. – For the second consecutive season Northern State will be playing postseason soccer, clinching a NSIC Tournament bid with a 3-0 win over MSU Moorhead on Thursday night. With the win the Wolves have now recorded nine shutout wins and 11 total shutouts this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first half of was a defensive battle on both sides of the field as each team only managed to attempt one shot-on-goal, however Northern State tallied six corner kicks in the first 45 minutes
• After a scoreless first half of play, the Wolves broke the tie in the 64^th minute with a penalty kick goal from Hannah Smith
• Northern State added a pair of goals to extend the lead in the closing minutes of the game, as Calista Kocmick and Megan Fastenau both scored in the 84^th minute of play
• Northern held the advantage in shots (12-6), shots-on-goal (6-2), and corner kicks (8-2)
• The Northern State defense limited MSU Moorhead's scoring opportunities throughout the night as Alexus Townsend only needed to make a total of two saves in the match
• Prior to Thursday's match the Wolves honored five graduating seniors, Paige Hutton, DeAnna LeMire, Isabela Polanco Garcia, Lilja Davidsdottir, and Alexa Sutherland

The Northern State women's soccer team earned the fifth seed in the NSIC Tournament and will travel to Minot, North Dakota next Monday (October 31) to face the fifth seeded Minot State Beavers. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kick-off at Herb Parker Stadium.
