Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State's
Ian Marshall (football) and
Lilja Davidsdottir (women's soccer) have been named as the South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week.
Marshall broke the Northern State single game school record with 4.0 sacks in a 38-10 win over Minot State. He tallied 23 yards lost for the Beavers on the sacks, while also recording five total tackles and two quarterback hurries. Marshall moved up to second in the league standings for total sacks (10.0) and leads the league in tackles for a loss (18.0). He was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon following his weekend performance against the Beavers.
Davidsdottir helped lead the Wolves to a 1-0-1 record this past weekend with a victory over Upper Iowa (1-0) and tie against Winona State (1-1). She led the defense to their ninth shutout of the season in the win over UIU, where they limited the Peacocks to seven shot attempts and four shots-on-goal. She attempted one shot in Friday's win over UIU and played 90 minutes in both weekend contests.
