Northern State Puts Together Strong Showing from Mount Marty

Yankton, S.D. – The Northern State University men's and women's track and field teams put on a show from the Mount Marty Invite on Saturday, notching numerous top-5 finishes and event wins.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Tanner Berg grabbed yet another weight throw win on the season, tossing 21.92m, followed by McCaden Anderson and Nick Olson in sixth and seventh, throwing 15.89m and 15.56m
  • Sean Mhende took fourth in the long jump with a 6.17m mark and second in the triple jump with a 12.88m mark
  • Darrian Hood added a fourth place finish in the triple jump, jumping 12.54m
  • The men's vault crew had a strong showing on the day, led by Sam Tremelling winning the event with a 4.56m jump
  • Rico Imus, Max Geditz, Jackson Willis, and Sean Juengst took fourth through seventh, jumping 3.60m and 3.45m
  • Berg added a third place finish in the shot put, throwing 16.75m, followed by Ethan Barnett and Olson in eighth and tenth, throwing 14.67m and 13.67m
  • JD Matehs and Luke Schroeder took fifth and eighth, running to times of 8.67 and 9.33 in the 60m hurdles
  • Three Wolves landed in the top-10 of the 400m with Chase Domier in third (50.85), Seth Martens in fifth (52.21), and Tafara Hondonga in sixth (52.28)
  • Nathan Alto took second in the 3000m run with a time of 8:59.74
  • The Northern State men placed three 4x400m relay teams in the top-10, led by the crew of Schroeder, Hondonga, Matehs, and Martens in second with a time of 3:28.12
  • The team of Domier, Juengst, Ronald Stephenson, and Brady Janssen took seventh with a time of 3:37.66 and the team of Dan Istvanovich, Isaac Olson, Dylan Schimke, and Geditz took tenth with a time of 3:41.61
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Cassidy Gough and Chrissy Stoltenberg tallied fourth and eighth place finishes in the weight throw, notching marks of 15.28m and 13.69m
  • Alison Theis recorded a ninth place finish in the long jump with a 4.38m mark
  • Kenzee Danielson tallied an event win, taking the pole vault with a 3.42m mark
  • Jordan Tschumperlin was the runner-up in the high jump, jumping 1.57m
  • Sierra Sweeney added a win in the triple jump, notching a 10.86m mark, followed by Theis in ninth, jumping 9.58m
  • Jordan Menken and Kamdyn Barrientos took third and seventh in the shot put, tossing 13.13m and 11.79m respectively
  • The 4x800m relay team of Mary Franssen, Megan Mooberry, Megan Pickering, and Jennifer Clark took second with a time of 9:36.96
  • Shanice Burrell and Renea Taylor were the top two finishers in the 60m hurdles with times of 9.03 and 9.36 respectively
  • Makenna Larson recorded a third place finish in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line in 8.14
  • Summer Carlson won the 800m with a time of 2:23.10, while Avery Murray rounded out the top-20 with a time of 2:36.36
  • Pickering finished as the runner-up in the mile with a time of 5:22.29, followed by Kenzie Hamann and Victoria Kolbinger in fourth and fifth with times of 5:29.94 and 5:31.29
  • Taylor went on to take second in the 400m with a time of 1:00.46, followed by Vanessa Klein in fifth with a time of 1:02.16
  • Franssen, Mooberry, and Clark finished in third through fifth in the 1000m, recording times of 3:07.01, 3:07.65, and 3:09.24
  • Kolbinger recorded a seventh place finish in the 3000m, crossing the finish line in 11:10.71
  • The 4x400m relay team of Taylor, Klein, Sweeney, and Burrell closed out the meet for the Wolves taking second with a time of 4:15.87
