No. 21 Wolves Drop Hard Fought Dual to No. 10 Vikings

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 21 Northern State University wrestling team took on the No. 10 Augustana University on Thursday evening, falling 23-12. The Wolves tallied three individual match victories in the dual that saw six decisions and one sudden victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Augustana took the first matches of the dual by decision, jumping out to a 6-0 lead
  • Kolton Roth and No. 8 Wyatt Turnquist quickly tied the match with back-to-back victories at 141 and 149 pounds
  • Roth defeated No. 12 Brandon Carroll in a 6-5 decision, coming back from a 4-2 deficit heading into the third
  • Turnquist downed Kenneth Lenger in a 9-3 decision
  • Augustana took the following four weight classes, including two major decision wins to go up 20-6
  • Marcus Placide took on Zach Peterson and recorded a fall at 1:21 in the match, following an early takedown by Peterson and reversal
  • Josh Trumble battled in the final match of the day, taking No. 7 Steven Hajas to overtime in a 5-3 loss
