Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 21 Northern State University wrestling team welcomes No. 10 Augustana Thursday evening to Wachs Arena. The 2022 blackout match kicks off at 7 p.m. between the Wolves and Vikings.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• The Wolves enter the dual with a 6-0 record overall and 2-0 mark in the NSIC
• Northern is ranked No. 21 in the most recent NWCA Poll with Wyatt Turnquist and James Burks sitting at No. 8 and No. 5 in their respective weights
• NSU is coming off a 3-0 Sunday at the WJ Duals with wins over William Jewell (53-0), Maryville (24-15), and Drury (21-15)
• Brenden Salfrank leads the team with ten wins this season, followed by Turnquist and Marcus Placide with nine apiece
• In addition, Salfrank leads the team with five victories by fall and three major decision wins
• Burks, Treyton Cacek, Kelby Hawkins, Cole Huss, Placide, Kolton Roth, and Turnquist are undefeated in NSIC action this season
• Turnquist recorded big wins over No. 4 Speelman and No. 7 Bailey at the Midwest Classic earlier this season, while 16 Wolves have placed in open tournaments in 2021-22

 
AUGUSTANA STORYLINES

• The Vikings travel North with a 2-3 record overall and 1-0 in the NSIC
• Augustana is currently ranked No. 10 in the NWCA Poll with six wrestlers individually ranked
• Brandon Carroll and Kolby Kost sit at No. 12 and No. 11 at 141 and 184 pounds
• Jack Huffman, Cade Mueller, and Steven Hajas are ranked No. 7 at 133, 174, and 285 pounds
• Jaxson Rohman comes in at No. 5 in the 125 pound weight class
• AU opened 2022 at the Hastings Open with eight wrestlers placing
• Augustana is led by head coach Jason Reitmeier in his 19^th season at the helm
