Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State defense stepped up on Sunday afternoon to keep the game close throughout and earn a 1-1 draw against Augustana. Today's tie snapped a nine-game win streak in the series for Augustana.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vikings thought they were able to get on the board first with a goal in the 49th minute, however a foul in the box negated the goal and left the game tied 0-0
- Augustana scored the first goal of the game in the 64th minute with a goal by Sierra Barkus going into the top-left corner of the net, off an assist from Grace Douglas
- Northern tied the game in the 81st minute on a free kick as Teya Trujillo connected with Lilja Davidsdottir; Augustana goalkeeper Jillian Barkus was able to briefly get a hand on the ball, but it bounced directly to Davidsdottir who headed it into the net
- AU controlled the game offensively out-shooting NSU 28-7, 11-2 in shots-on-goal, and held the advantage in corner kicks 7-4

Northern State returns home to Aberdeen next week as they face Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, October 1, and Minnesota State on Sunday, October 3. A 7 p.m. start time is scheduled for Friday's contest against the Golden Bears, followed by a 1 p.m. start on Sunday against the Mavericks.
