Duluth, Minn. – The Northern State University softball team lost twice to Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, including an extra innings affair. The Wolves notched two runs and 13 hits on the day, without giving up an error defensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ashley Fauske plated Jessi Hernandez on a single to center in the third, giving Northern a 1-0 lead
- The Wolves held the Bulldogs scoreless through five innings, before UMD tied the game with one run in the bottom of the sixth
- Neither team was able to grab the lead in regulation and extra innings ensued, with Duluth notching a game winning homerun in the bottom of the 12th
- Northern scored their one run on seven hits, leaving four runners on base in the loss
- Meghan Anderson threw the entire game for the Wolves, suffering her tenth loss of the season; the sophomore gave up two earned runs on six hits with 11 strikeouts

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Minnesota Duluth scored first with two runs in the bottom of the first, and extended their lead with three runs in the third and one in the fourth
- Northern notched their one run of the game in the top of the fifth, as Jessi Hernandez singled to short scoring Emily Charchuk
- Elyse Cuttic suffered her sixth loss of the 2021 season, giving up six earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts
