Duluth, Minn. – Dakota Hutzler and Bryce Malsam took on the heptathlon and decathlon for the Northern State University track and field teams on the opening day of the NSIC Championships.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Dakota Hutzler tallied 2,649 total points in day one, sitting second overall in the multi standings
• She tallied marks of 15.54 in the 100m hurdles, 1.54m (5-00.25) in the high jump, 9.68m (31-09.25) in the shot put, and 27.12 in the 200m

 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Bryce Malsam recorded 3,291 points on the first day, placed fourth in the decathlon standings
• He tallied marks of 11.47 in the 100m, 6.19m (20-03.75) in the long jump, 11.80m (38-08.75) in the shot put, 1.81m (5-11.25) in the high jump, and 53.17 in the 400m
• Malsam's highest finish of the day in individual events, was a third place standing in the shot put
