Northern State Swept by St. Cloud State at Home

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team fell twice to St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves pitching staff was unable to keep the Huskies at bay in the two games, giving up 22 runs and 26 hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • St. Cloud State was on the board in the top of the first with two runs
  • Ben Carolin answered back for NSU in the third, tying the game with a 2-run long ball to left which scored Jackson Meyer
  • The Huskies added another three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth, taking a 9-2 lead heading into the final frame
  • NSU held SCSU scoreless in the top of the seventh and plated two runs in the bottom of the inning, however it was not enough to overcome the deficit
  • Justin Hutter singles in Ben Carolin and Alex Gauer scored Hutter on a fielder's choice to short in the seventh
  • Northern tallied four runs on five hits without giving up an error defensively
  • Zach Hrvol suffered his fifth loss of the season, throwing 4.2 innings
  • Taite Hensley was the lone Wolf to hold the Huskies scoreless in 1.1 innings of work

  • The Huskies came out with all cylinders firing in game two notching two runs in the first, four in the second, four in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the seventh
  • Ben Carolin tallied his second homerun of the day in the bottom of the first, a solo shot to right field
  • Northern grabbed two more runs in the third, as Justin Hutter doubled to left center scoring Carolin and Jackson Meyer
  • The Wolves tallied three runs on six hits with one error defensively
  • Max Otto suffered the loss on the bump, throwing 3.2 innings for the Wolves
