Minot, N.D. – The Northern State University softball team opened their 6-game road trip on Wednesday with a split versus Minot State. The Wolves fell and game one and rallied back for a shutout victory in the night cap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern plated two runs in the bottom of the first on a single to right by Makenzie Merritt and double to right by Chanel Siebenthal
- Minot State tied the game in the following two innings, notching one run each in the second and third
- The Beavers extended their lead in the fifth and six, recording two runs in each inning
- Ashley Fauske scored the team's final run of the game in the seventh, on a misplayed ball by the Minot centerfielder, however it was not enough to overcome the 4-run deficit
- The Wolves recorded three runs on eight hits, leaving 11 runners on base
- Meghan Anderson suffered the loss, giving up four earned run on six hits in 4.1 innings of work

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves and Beavers played five scoreless innings of softball in game two, before Northern grabbed the only run of the game
- Makenzie Merritt tallied a 2-out double to left field in the sixth and scored the following at-bat on a single to center by Chanel Siebenthal
- Northern notched one run on four hits, and did not suffer an error on defense
- Elyse Cuttic threw her 11th win of the season and fourth shutout, giving up just four hits
