Moorhead, Minn. – The Northern State University softball team opened NSIC play on Monday afternoon, notching a split versus MSU Moorhead. The Wolves fell in game one, despite notching five hits, and rallied back for a game two victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern State was shutout by MSU Moorhead in the opening game of the day, leaving six runners on base
- The Dragons tallied two runs in the second and one run in both the third and fourth innings
- Meghan Anderson suffered her third loss of the season, giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits in 6.0 innings pitched
- Anderson added eight strikeouts in the game

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rachel Reinke led off game two with a walk and came around to score on a single by Kennady Thompson
- The Dragons answered back in the bottom of the frame, tying the game at 1-all
- The tie score held through the fourth inning, before the Wolves broke things open in the fifth, notching three runs on three hits
- Rachel Reinke, Ashley Fauske (pinch running for Thompson), and Elyse Cuttic scored in the inning, giving NSU a 4-1 lead
- Northern added another four runs in the sixth from Elly Smith, Chanel Siebenthal, Reinke, and Cuttic
- Moorhead tallied three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh, however it was not enough to overcome the 7-run deficit
- Cuttic earned her fourth win of the season, while Anderson tallied a save throwing the final 1.2 innings
- NSU recorded their eight runs on eight hits and gave up two errors defensively
