Fayette, Iowa – The Northern State University softball team split a pair of run-rule games at Upper Iowa on Friday. The Wolves tallied 15 runs and 19 hits in the two games.

Game 1
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Northern tallied the first runs of the game on a single through the right side by Kennady Thompson scoring Rachel Reinke
• From then on it was all UIU, as the Peacocks tied the game in the first and notched four runs in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth
• The Wolves were held scoreless by Upper Iowa starter Abby McKay in the final four innings of action
• NSU recorded one run on four hits, giving up two errors defensively
• Meghan Anderson suffered her fourth loss of the season, giving up eight runs (four earned) in four innings of work

Game 2
HOW IT HAPPENED

• It was all NSU in game two, led off by a six run top of the first; scoring for the Wolves was Ashley Fauske, Makenzie Merritt, Kennady Thompson, Shelby Novotny, Elyse Cuttic, and Natalie Gabbert
• Northern tacked on one run in the third on a single down the left field line by Novotny scoring Jessi Hernandez
• The Wolves added another seven runs on seven hits in the fourth, led off by a Thompson homerun to left center
• Scoring for NSU in the fourth was Merritt, Gabbert, Emma Terveer, Cuttic, Rachel Reinke, and Fauske
• Northern recorded their 14 runs on 15 hits and gave up three errors on defense
• Elyse Cuttic threw her fifth win of the year in a 5-inning, 3-hit shutout
