Minot, N.D. – The Northern State University softball team split their opening day of competition, defeating Minnesota Crookston and falling to Minot State. The Wolves tallied ten hits in the two games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were scoreless through the first four innings of action
- Makenzie Merritt tallied the first and lone run of the game for the Wolves in the bottom of the fifth, belting a 1-out homerun to right
- The Wolves threatened leaving two runners on base following the long ball, however were unable to convert
- Meghan Anderson threw her first complete game shutout of the season, notching 12 strikeouts in the process

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Minot State held Northern at bay in the game, as the Wolves left six runners on base
- The Beavers tallied one run in the fourth and one in the fifth off Northern State starter Elyse Cuttic
- The Wolves tallied six hits and gave up one error defensively
- Cuttic suffered her first loss of the season, throwing three innings in the contest
