MSU Moorhead snaps Wolves' 3-game win streak

Aberdeen, S.D. - A cold shooting night, particularly in the first half, led to the end of the Northern State men's basketball program's modest 3-game win streak Tuesday night, as Minnesota State Moorhead claimed a 75-65 win over the Wolves to open up NSIC action in Moorhead, Minn. The Wolves were just 1-for-10 from long range, normally a point of strength, in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc in its last two games at home, the Wolves were just 5-for-31 from 3-point range on Tuesday.
  • That allowed the Dragons to build a 10-point lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the first half.
  • MSU Moorhead stretched that lead to as many as 17 points (23-6) in the first half before the Wolves found their groove.
  • Northern cut the lead back to single digits at the half, then made it just a 2-possession game on a Jackson Moni trey on the first possession of the second half.
  • Another 3-pointer and an ensuing free throw from Moni trimmed that lead to just a single point with 13:22 to play, but the Dragons were able to push the lead back to 10 by the under-10 media timeout.
  • Northern got no closer than five points the rest of the way.
