Northern State Routes Presentation in Exhibition Opener

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team took the court for the first time in the 2021-22 season and came away with a dominant 74-40 win over Presentation College in an exhibition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a slow first couple of minutes, the Wolves broke open the game with a 17-3 run and pushed the lead to 14 with a fastbreak layup from Kailee Oliverson
  • Oliverson would push the Northern lead to 20 early in the second quarter, with six consecutive points of her own to open the period
  • Al Morones opened the fourth quarter with a three pointer for the Saints, however Northern State responded coming out of a timeout by hitting back-to-back threes by Halle Heinz and Abigail Johnson
  • Heinz was able to end an 8-0 Saints run midway through the fourth with a three pointer and a fastbreak layup
  • Over the course of the game the Wolves accumulated ten steals which led to 25 points off turnovers
  • Northern State showed their depth by out-scoring Presentation in bench points 45-12, and saw 12 players score in the game
  • In the game NSU shot 41.2 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the three-point line, and 73.3 percent from the free throw line
  • The Wolves defense limited Presentation on offense, Brittiney Seymour was the only player for the Saints to score more than five points with 15 in the game

The Northern State women's basketball team will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri for a pair of games in the Central Region Conference Challenge. The Wolves will play Central Missouri at 6:30 p.m. on November 12th, followed by Rodgers State at 8:30 p.m. on November 13th.
