Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2021 NSIC Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll earlier today. The Wolves were picked ninth in the poll, earning 78 points.

The Wolves are coming off their interrupted spring 2020 season, where they held a 1-12 record through the first 13 non-conference games. Northern ended the year with an 11-7 victory over No. 6 St. Cloud State. NSU returns 28 from a season ago, including NSIC Preseason Player and Pitcher to Watch Spencer Sarringar and Seth Brewer. In addition, the Wolves welcome 12 newcomers to the roster, with a mixture of both freshman and junior college transfers. Northern is currently set to open the season versus Wayne State in NSIC action on March 20 and 21, however they are working to schedule non-conference games in March at US Bank Stadium.

Sarringar hit .355 through 13 games in 2020. He tallied 11 hits, including two extra base knocks, four stolen bases, and two RBI. The Pierre native recorded a .311 batting average and .975 fielding percentage in 2019 as a redshirt freshman. Defensively he did not give up an error and caught six runners stealing from behind the plate.

Brewer threw ten innings for the Wolves in two games in 2020. He recorded 11 strikeouts and a .270 opponent batting average. The Rapid City native tallied 4.2 scoreless innings of worth versus Regis, giving up just two hits and striking out six.
