Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University Athletics is saddened to learn of the passing of the longtime "Voice of the Wolves", Gene Reich. He called Northern State football and men's and women's basketball contests in his tenure. Reich was 69 years old.
 
He was known in the Aberdeen community and surrounding areas for his calls of both Northern State and Central Athletics. Reich worked as a telehealth coordinator at Avera St. Luke's Hospital from 1998 to 2018. In addition, he is a member of the Central High School Hall of Fame.
 
His memorial service is set for 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. The service will be livestreamed due to COVID concerns.
