Green Bay, Wis. – The Northern State soccer team took down Wisconsin Green Bay in overtime, notching not only the season opening victory but the first for head coach Ryszard Gorski in his NSU career.  For the first win of the 2019 regular season. The Wolves held strong versus their NCAA Division I opponents, forcing the overtime period and ultimately coming away with the decisive goal off the foot of Gaby Roman.

HOW IT HAPPENED
·         NSU was out-shot by Green Bay 12-2 in the first half and 5-3 in the second half; Northern however proved their efficiency notching two shots on goal in five attempts to the Phoenix five in 17 attempts
·         Northern held strong in the early stages of the first half keeping Green Bay scoreless after facing nearly half a dozen shots by the 20th minute
·         The Wolves began to find their rhythm toward the end of regulation, as they pressured the Phoenix back line
·         Four minutes into overtime play Vanessa Mejia crossed the ball into Shianne Rosselli who found Gaby Roman in the center of the box to net the game winner for the Wolves
·         NSU handed Green Bay their first regular season loss at home this season
