Tanner Berg and
Hanneke Oosterwegel represented the Northern State University track and field team in the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday. Berg competed in the hammer throw, while Oosterwegel qualified for finals of the 400m hurdles.
Berg opened the day for the Wolves in the hammer throw. He tallied a 55.88m toss on his first attempt of the afternoon, taking 19
th overall.
Oosterwegel ran in the third heat of the 400m hurdle preliminaries, finishing fourth in her heat with a time of 1:00.23. She will advance to finals, sitting eighth overall.
Oosterwegel will run her final race as a Wolf on Saturday at 7:20 p.m. in the finals of the 400m hurdles. Berg concluded his sophomore season with a trip to the NCAA Championship, the school record in the hammer throw, and two top-8 finishes from the NSIC Outdoor Championships.
