Wolves Baseball splits with Vikings Wednesday evening

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Northern State Baseball gave Augustana their first loss of the conference season in a split with the Vikings Wednesday afternoon.

Final Score: Northern State 6; Augustana 5
Game Two: Northern State 3; Augustana 13
Records: Northern State 9-10 (5-5 NSIC); Augustana 15-7 (9-1)
 
How It Happened: Game One
  • Both teams when scoreless in the first two innings before the Wolves picked up one run on a Hayden Houts double that scored Mikey Adams.
  • Augustana answered with one run in the bottom of the inning with a run.
  • NSU scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Sam McMacken that scored Dakota Stilson.
  • Later that inning Isaiah Chevalier doubled down the right field line that scored Hayden Hall.
  • Chad Hinkle drove in I. Chevalier in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 5-2. Later that inning McMacken was hit by a pitch that scored Houts.
  • Augustana scored three in the final two innings but the combination of Tyler Jones and Luke Chevalier closed the door.
