Bismarck, N.D. – The Northern State Wolves were out-scored by nine in the fourth quarter as they dropped a North Division game by a final score of 55-69. Wolves drop to 9-18 overall and 6-15 in conference play.
Wolves went on a 10-0 run that lasted over five minutes in the first quarter to take a 12-10 lead. The Marauders went on multiple mini runs in the first quarter, as the Wolves trailed by six heading into the second quarter. NSU also went on a 12-0 run in the second quarter but trailed the Marauders by three heading into the intermission. The Wolves shot 52.2 percent from the field, 60.0 percent from behind the arc and tallied 11 assists on 12 made field goals.
The Marauders went on a 5-0 mini run to start the third quarter to extend the lead to 10 before the Wolves climbed back into the game to bring it back to two possessions with two minutes left in the third quarter. Northern State tied the game at 49 with 8:05 left in the game before the Marauders out-scored the Wolves 20-6 in the final eight minutes of the game. NSU shot 40.8 percent in the game, 58.3 percent from behind the arc, tallied 27 rebounds, a season high 19 assists, one block, and five steals.
Leading the way was
Brianna Kusler tying her career high with 20 points, eight rebounds, and one assist.
Lexi Wadsworth tallied double figures tonight with 10 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Anika Fredrick recorded six points, two rebounds, one assists, and the only block for the Wolves.
Jessi Marti tallied a season high six assists, also adding five points, six rebounds, and three steals.
Tori Mekash recorded a career high in assists with seven on the night, with three points, one rebound, and one steal.
Alayna Johnson led the Wolves with eight bench points tonight; she also added one rebound and one assist.
Joie Spier was the last player in the scoring column for the Wolves with three points and one rebound.
Brooke Luitjens and
Zoe Hardwick each tallied one assist off the bench.
Wolves are back in action tomorrow for the regular season finale against Minot State with tip-off scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Minot, North Dakota.
