Wolves finish the 2019 regular season with a victory over Minot State

Minot, N.D. – Women's basketball wins the final game of the 2019 regular season game with a win over Minot State by a final score of 73-68. With the victory, Wolves finished the regular season with a 10-18 on the regular season and 7-15 in conference play.
 
NSU started the game with 10-2 run in the first quarter and took a three point lead heading into the second quarter. The Wolves went on an 11-0 run in the middle of the second quarter taking a 16-point lead with 1:45 left in the second quarter. Northern State shot 45.5 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from behind the arc, 13 offensive rebounds, 109 assists, and one turnover.
 
The Beavers out-scored the Wolves in the third quarter 23-18 and the Wolves headed into the fourth quarter with a six-point lead. Minot State cut the Northern lead to one with 8:36 left in the fourth quarter. The Wolves and Beavers were tied at 66 with 2:29 left in the game before the Wolves went on a 7-2 run to pick up a victory. NSU shot 48.2 percent, 22.2 percent from behind the arc, 28 points in the paint, 18 points off turnovers, 12 second chance points.
 
Lexi Wadsworth tied a career high with 19 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and one block. Brianna Kusler scored 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Anika Fredrick also scored in double figures with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Tori Mekash recorded eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
 
Jessi Marti was the final starter for the Wolves, finishing with seven points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Alayna Johnson led the bench in scoring with five points and one rebound. Joie Spier scored three points and tallied one rebound off the bench for the Wolves. Zoe Hardwick was the last player in the scoring column, finishing with two points. Brooke Luitjens finished with one assist in the game.
 
Wolves are back in action Wednesday for the NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament as they travel to Augustana for the first round of the tournament. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Vikings.
