Aberdeen, S.D. – The (RV) Northern State University wrestling team kicks off NSIC competition from Wachs Arena Thursday evening. The Wolves will face off with (RV) MSU Moorhead beginning at 7 p.m. from the Barnett Center.
 
QUICK HITS ON THE (RV) NORTHERN STATE WOLVES

• The Wolves enter NSIC action with a 2-0 record overall, recording dual wins over Saint John's and Concordia College
• Dayne Morton (133) and Caden Moore (149) each are ranked eighth in the nation, per the NWCA Rankings, while the Wolves are receiving votes as a team
• In addition, NSU is ranked fifth in Super Region Five with six individual ranked wrestlers including No. 3 Morton (133), No. 3 Moore (149), No. 2 James Burks (157), No. 6 Billy Holtan (165), No. 5 Marcus Placide (184), and No. 6 Diego Gallegos (197)
• Morton leads the team this season with a 12-0 record overall, having won the Jamestown Jimmie Open, Dakota Wesleyan Alumni Open, and Concordia Moorhead Finn Grinaker Open
• Moore holds an 11-1 record thus far winning both the DWU Alumni Open and Finn Grinaker Open
• Caleb Lefferdink, Marcus Placide, and Moore are all 2-0 in dual competition this season

 
MATCHING UP WITH THE (RV) DRAGONS

• MSU Moorhead opened the 2019-20 season with three open tournaments at NDSU, Concordia Moorhead and Augsburg
• The match-up with the Wolves will be the first dual of the season for MSUM
• The Dragons were picked seventh overall in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 23 points
• Seven student-athletes placed at the Augsburg Invite, led by 141 pounder Mason Schulz in second overall
• Jordan Magnuson is currently ranked 11^th in the nation at 285 pounds, with the Dragons receiving two votes in the team national poll
• MSU Moorhead is led by head coach Kris Nelson in his 11^th season at the helm
