Aberdeen S.D. - On Friday night the (RV) Northern State wrestling team were unable to upset the No. 1 ranked St. Cloud State Huskies, as they fall 30-9 in their first dual loss of the season.

The dual didn't begin well for the Wolves as No. 8 Caden Moore fell to Joey Bianchini in a 3-0 decision at 149. However, James Burks quickly turned things around with an improbable upset decision over No. 2 James Pleski (ranked #2 in 149 weight class) at 157, bringing the crowd to their feet and knotting up the score at 3-3.
Attempting to capitalize on the Wolves' newfound momentum at 165 was Billy Holton, but the excitement was short lived, as St. Cloud State's Brock Schlough came away with the 7-1 decision.

As the Wolves entered the toughest part of St. Clouds lineup they continued to fall behind. No. 3 Kolton Eischens and No. 3 Tyree Overton defeated Tanner Wiese by fall, and Marcus Placide by decision respectively, giving the Huskies a 15-3 lead at the intermission.
Things got worse before they got better for the Wolves, as Noah Ryan defeated Diego Gallegos in a 5-2 decision at 197 and No. 12 Ezayah Oropeza took down Caleb Lefferdink in a convincing 6-2 decision at 285.

At 125 Northern's Landen Fisher was unable to overcome the agility of Robby Horseman, leading to a technical fall for the Beavers. However, at 133 No. 8 Dayne Morton was able to get some more points on the board as his opponent failed to make weight, bringing the overall score to 27-9 with one match to go.

Rounding out the night for the Wolves was Kenny Jones, who fought exceptionally well against No. 7 Garret Aldrich despite an 8-6 decision loss, bringing the final score to 30-9 in favor of the Huskies.
The Wolves were only able to manage a single decision victory and one forfeit on the night, while giving up six decisions, one fall and one technical fall to St. Cloud State.

Up next, the Wolves wrestling team heads to the desert to face off against Wartburg College, UNC Pembroke and Simon Fraser University at Las Vegas, Nevada on December 22. Wrestling is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.
