Northern Football Opens Cross Division Play at Upper Iowa

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team remains on the road this weekend, traveling to Fayette for the Upper Iowa homecoming match-up. Kick-off between the Wolves and Peacocks is set for 3 p.m. from Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
 
QUICK HITS ON THE NORTHERN STATE WOLVES
            • The Wolves head to Upper Iowa for the second straight road game, after a comeback victory over St. Cloud State last Saturday
            • Northern is now 2-2 on the year and 2-0 on the road, with wins over Minot State and St. Cloud
            • NSU is averaging 14.5 points, 123.2 yards rushing, 224.0 yards passing, and 347.2 yards of total offense this season; holding their opponents to 110.5 yards rushing, 198.2 yards passing, and 308.8 yards of total offense per game
            • The Wolves rank in the top-5 of the NSIC in kick-off returns (23.3 yards per return), opponent third down conversions (16/59), and fewest penalties (18)
            • Isaiah Cherrier leads the rushing attack for NSU with 276 total yards and one touchdown; he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and 69.0 yards per game
            • Hunter Trautman threw for season highs last week versus the Huskies and now has 882 yards passing on the year with two touchdowns and a 54.2 pass completion percentage
            • Dakota Larson tallied his first 100-yard game of the season last week and leads the receivers with 278 yards and one touchdown, averaging 13.9 yards per reception and 69.5 yards per game
            • Payton Eue is averaging 34.6 yards per punt and 56.6 yards per kickoff, while Mitch Tschakert is 7-of-8 in PATs and 1-of-4 in field goals attempted this season
            • AJ Frazier and Chase Teiken lead the defense with 19 tackles apiece, while Frazier notching four pass break-ups and Teiken recording 3.0 tackles for a loss a one fumble recovery
            • Five Wolves have recorded a sack this season, while Joe Gorghuber, Zach Bohnenkamp, and Zach Mohs have grabbed the team's three interceptions
 
MATCHING UP WITH THE PEACOCKS
            • Upper Iowa has not recorded a win this season, falling to Augustana, Concordia-St. Paul, Winona State, and Southwest Minnesota State in South Division play
            • The Peacocks are averaging 12.8 points, 122.8 yards rushing, 202.0 yards passing, and 324.8 yards of total offense this season; while giving up 35.8 points, 190.8 yards rushing, 178.5 yards passing, and 369.2 yards of total offense per game
            • Matt McDonald and Levon Bellemy lead the running backs with 181 and 180 yards rushing respectively this season, with Bellemy averaging a team high 90.0 yards per game
            • Both Jake Schuman and Myles Herrera have seen time at quarterback, notching 432 and 376 yards passing respectively; Herrera is noted as Saturday's starter on the depth chart
